Two gold medals, one silver and six bronze. And first place in the team medal table for Greco-Roman wrestling. The national university championships have got off to a flying start for CUS Bologna, which, a year ago, deservedly finished the academic competition in first place. The gold medals won on the first day of the Games, which are taking place in various towns across Piedmont, were secured by Fabrizio Di Marco (épée) and Valentin Ciobanu (wrestling). Also in wrestling, Enrico Libri secured second place. Meanwhile, the bronze medals are almost all from the world of judo, thanks to Gian Marco Coppari, Riccardo Bertolini, Alex Boldini, Giacomo Lodi and Mattia Castellani. In freestyle wrestling, Dumitru Hasan won bronze.
On the first day, Francesco Ceraso, Gregorio Callegati, Davide Casadio, Federico Cassanelli, Leonardo Cittadini and Erik Sangiorni also took to the mat for CUS Bologna in judo. In fencing, meanwhile, Beatrice Fava and Alice Franchini competed. In wrestling, Leandro Gariani, Giovanni Mangione, Lorenzo Marchio and Filippo Zoboli took part. Michela Cicchetti, Sara Buracchi, Sofia Bragagni, Claudia Barbeitos and Domitilla Caprara are also warming up for the second day in judo.
