CNU Triathlon 2026: strong results for CUS Bologna

Francesco Macrelli, a student in the Department of Engineering and Computer Science, finished in 17th place. The more experienced Daniel Casadei, who is studying veterinary medicine, came in 48th. The National University Triathlon Championships in Loano (Savona) brought success to CUS Bologna in an event that drew about a hundred athletes to Liguria.

Macrelli was satisfied: “I finished seventeenth. It was a very fast race with a fairly technical course. On the bike, I rode the first few laps with the pack, and then on the last lap I accelerated to try to catch the group ahead of us; on the run, I held my position”.

Veteran Casadei was happy with the experience—a 750-meter swim, 20-kilometer bike ride, and 5-kilometer run—but less so with the final result. “I don’t recall such a large number of participants,” - he commented - “the level of competition has risen. I was in the group of the best, but then, when I got on the bike, I ran into some issues that affected me and didn’t let me keep up with the leaders".

He’s already looking ahead, meanwhile. And CUS Bologna is always there, even in the world of triathlon.
