The University of Bologna women’s team wins again, but they had to work hard against the Turkish team from Yasar University. The match ended 3-1 (22-25; 25-23, 25-23, 26-24) with very narrow margins. In fact, the largest margin of victory came in the first set, which the Turkish team won. Alice Trampus was the standout player; with 32 points, it’s fair to say she single-handedly won a set.
Chiara Marinucci was satisfied. “We’re very happy—we knew the Turkish team was strong. It was a balanced match with great blocking on both sides. But as a team, we made the difference. We stayed united even when we fell behind.”
Ilaria Gaiani is more than just an assistant coach to Leonardo Palladino. “Today’s match,” says Ilaria, “was very emotional. It was a tense start because last year we lost to them and they knocked us out of medal contention. The first set was tight, but then the girls regrouped and we got back to our game, bringing home three crucial points.”
Sofia Ceroni was also happy. “A great victory, sweet revenge. It was a close match, but what matters is that we won. We’d lost to them in the quarterfinals a year ago. We did it, and we’re happy.”
