Excellent results for the CUS Bologna athletes in the waters of Lake Orta, the venue for the Oceanman stage, an international open-water swimming event taking place between Omegna, Pella and Gozzano. The Bologna team, coached by Felice Pellegrino, made an immediate impression. In the Oceanteams 3x500 event, a gold medal was secured by the trio of Gabriele Riccardini, Riccardo Giannoni and Pietro Bosetto. A solid and highly cohesive performance allowed the three CUS athletes to pull away from all their rivals. The following day saw the more demanding distances, with the 14-kilometre Oceanman and the 5.5-kilometre Half Oceanman. In the most challenging event, Pietro Bosetto confirmed his prowess in open water by winning the bronze medal in his category over the 14-kilometre distance. In the same event, Riccardo Giannoni finished eighth in his category, which equated to 41st place overall. Gabriele Riccardini put in a good performance in the 5.5-kilometre race. For Gabriele, seventh place in his category meant 40th place overall. An excellent result for the CUS Bologna team.
For Bosetto, this is further confirmation following the great result achieved a few weeks earlier in Cattolica. On that occasion, he finished second in the 10-kilometre Oceanman.
The results achieved at Lake Orta confirm the progress of the CUS Bologna Masters team in open-water swimming too.
