CUS Bologna continues to take center stage, this time at the 33rd Paolo Gori Memorial and CONI Emilia-Romagna Trophy, a finswimming competition. CUSB swept the board with numerous medals won at the Pianoro pool. In the end, 9 gold, 12 silver, and 11 bronze medals made their way to Via San Giacomo 9/2 (home of the historic organization celebrating its 80th anniversary this season). Combined, these victories and placements earned the team third place in the club standings.
The team was led by coaches Veronica Arrighi, Mirko Ravagli, Alex Battista, and Zoe Bersanetti. Emma Zappoli stood out, taking the spotlight with victories in the 50-meter fins (first category) and the 400-meter fins (open division), plus a silver in the 100-meter fins. Caterina Faccioli delivered an excellent performance, winning both the 100-meter monofin and 100-meter fin events in the CMAS competitions. Serena Martelli (100-meter fin, first category) and Federica Brunelli (50-meter monofin, second category) also stood on the top step of the podium.
Irene Orlandini showed great consistency, winning three silver medals in the 50, 100, and 200 fin events. Notable results came from Samuel Pizzirani, who placed second in the 50 fin and 50 monofin events; Francesca Marata, who won silver in the 50 monofin; and Aurora Ialacci, who placed second in the 100 monofin. Samuele Sensini and Ginevra Mosticchio also achieved strong finishes, confirming the team’s strength.
Enthusiasm and impressive results from the youth division, coached by Elena Mengoli and Monica Evangelisti, which stood out at the CONI Trophy. Among the Esordienti A1, Ian Zucchelli Consolini shines, taking center stage with two victories in the 50-meter fins and the 100-meter monofin. Rounding out the day was the success of the 4x100-meter monofin relay team, featuring Tommaso Boldrini, Diletta Maria Giunta, Liam Terrone, and Vittoria Alò, who won gold after a race marked by great determination.
Contributing decisively to the result were the performances of Edoardo Bellucci, Matteo Bacciottini, Samuele Sensini, Ginevra Dalla Casa, Riccardo Canevese, Viola Manaresi, and the younger swimmers Giovanni Bonotti, Enea Godano, Marco Boschetto, and Demetra Balbi.
Pianoro’s third-place finish is yet another confirmation of the quality of the work carried out by CUS Bologna, which has successfully combined results, youth development, and team spirit—fundamental elements for looking ahead with confidence to upcoming events.
