Fencing Masters: Claudia Cavallini Wins Gold for CUS Bologna

The fifth round of the national masters fencing circuit took place in San Lazzaro. Several athletes from CUS Bologna also competed. Claudia Cavallini took first place in the women’s épée Category 2. This was an excellent result for Claudia, who had already secured a third-place finish earlier this season in the masters competitions.

“I’m very happy,” says Claudia Cavallini, “with the result I achieved, and I’d like to thank my teammates. The club is growing a lot, and I’m very pleased about that because it’s the result of excellent work.”

The masters, within the fencing section of CUS Bologna, are now an increasingly large group that grows year after year, with experienced athletes like Claudia. But it also includes many new members who want to take up the sport as adults. Fencing is primarily an individual sport, but the group is essential, precisely to allow everyone to train and grow together in a calm and healthy environment.

Claudia’s performance was excellent, coming just a few days before the Masters finals to be held in Riccione in early May. The CUS Bologna fencing section will participate with numerous athletes in the individual competitions and with the women’s épée team composed of Claudia Cavallini, Giulia Boni, and Sara Billi.

The fencing section also competed in Bastia Umbra for the second national Under-14 tournament and will be in Riccione in May for the finals of the Senior, Under-14, and Master categories.
