Another medal – and what a medal! – for CUS Bologna at the Spring National University Championships held in Eastern Piedmont. It was no secret that Gaia Ragazzini, in the trap event, was one of the favourites. But we also know that the pressure, when you’re the bookies’ favourite, can backfire. In reality, thanks in part to her friends at CUS Bologna, Gaia put in a phenomenal performance.
First in the qualifying round with 71/75. Then, in the final, when the pressure mounted even further, she finished with 30/30 and the gold medal that gave CUS Bologna another great source of pride.
“I’m delighted to have repeated last year’s success; it’s a wonderful event that has allowed me to put myself to the test. I’d like to thank CUS Bologna for supporting and guiding me; I’m very pleased with the result”.
The competition, designated by the coach of the University National Team, Pierluigi Pescosolido, as a selection event for the Squadra Azzurra squad that will compete in the 2026 World University Championships in Taiwan, saw 31 fencers take part. And CUS Bologna will be there.
In tennis, there was disappointment for Andrea Valli, who fought a veritable marathon lasting almost three hours. He was defeated 7-5, 6-4 in a match characterised by great balance and decided by a few points and moments of fortune.
In tennis, Clara Sansoni, Vittoria Modesti and Nicola Ravioli - Andre Valli took to the court. Then comes the rugby debut, with CUS Bologna set to face the universities of Pavia and Florence.
